How It Works
How Chefnotes works
Chefnotes is the easiest way to cook recipes you actually want — without spending an hour figuring out what to buy. We turn every recipe into a checkout-ready basket, priced live for your area. Here's how every piece fits together.
What you get
Your location decides what you see
Prices, available products, and delivery windows are all keyed to the address you've selected. When you switch addresses, the catalogue refreshes against the closest partner stores — so the chicken breast you see in Sofia is from a Sofia supplier at a Sofia price. If your address sits outside our coverage area, you can still browse recipes; you just won't see prices or be able to place an order until you pick an address we deliver to.
Pick a delivery slot that fits you
Order before 13:00 and you can still pick a slot for today. After 13:00, today's slots close and your earliest option becomes tomorrow. You can also schedule further out — tomorrow, the day after, or beyond — and we keep adding capacity as we grow. The exact slots available depend on partner readiness; we only show ones we can actually honor.
Subscriptions — auto-reorder your basket
Found a basket that works for your week? Turn it into a subscription and we'll re-deliver the same cart every 3 to 7 days — you pick the cadence. Skip a delivery whenever you need to, tweak the contents between cycles, or cancel any time. Subscriptions are the easiest way to stop thinking about groceries and just have them show up.
Global search across recipes, plans, and products
The search bar at the top of the app runs across everything: recipes, meal plans, individual products. Type "salmon" and you'll see salmon recipes, salmon-heavy meal plans, and salmon products you can add directly to the cart. It's the fastest way to jump straight to whatever's already on your mind.
Prices are dynamic — you stay in control
Every recipe ships with suggested product quantities, but you decide what actually goes into your basket. Bump the olive oil from one bottle to two, drop the optional balsamic, swap a 200 g pack of salt for a 500 g one — the cart total updates live as you go. What you see is what you pay; no surprises at checkout.
Three offer tiers per recipe — pricier doesn't always mean fancier
Each recipe is priced under three offer tiers: Basic, Smart, and Extra. Basic optimizes for price, Smart balances quality and value, Extra leans into top-shelf ingredients. A higher price tag doesn't automatically mean fancier products — sometimes it just means a bigger pack size that's cheaper per gram. Tap through the tiers in the offer modal to see exactly which products each one pulls in.
Meal Plans bundle recipes for the week
A Meal Plan is a curated bundle of recipes — usually a few days' worth of meals — that you can order as one combined basket. They're built to feel like a complete shopping list rather than a pile of unrelated recipes, so the ingredients overlap intentionally and you get more cooking per shopping trip.
The Chef — our AI recipe generator
Type what you feel like eating, what you have in the fridge, or a dietary goal, and The Chef will generate a custom recipe with ingredient quantities, step-by-step instructions, and a checkout-ready product list. Every generated recipe is priced live just like the curated ones, so you can go from idea to delivery in one flow.
Smart Savings — fewer duplicates, lower total
If two recipes in your cart both need eggs, you almost never need two cartons. Smart Savings spots overlaps like that automatically and suggests removing duplicate items — sometimes a whole product, sometimes just a quantity reduction. You stay in control; we just point out where you'd otherwise pay twice for the same thing.
Combo recipes — second dish costs less
Adding a second recipe that shares ingredients with one you've already got? The second recipe is often dramatically cheaper, because the eggs (or olive oil, or flour) from the first recipe are already covered. The price you see on each recipe card reflects this — the marginal cost of adding another dish to your basket, not its full standalone price.
Plans come with Smart Savings pre-applied
Because Meal Plans are curated as a single shopping experience, we apply Smart Savings to the plan up front — duplicate ingredients across the plan's recipes are already deduplicated in the plan's total. What you see is the genuinely optimized basket, not a naive sum of independent recipes.
Favorite recipes
Tap the heart on any recipe to save it to your favorites — your personal shortlist for recipes you want to come back to. Favorites sync across devices via your Chefnotes account, so the recipe you saved on the phone is waiting on your laptop too.
Rate recipes
Every cooked recipe is worth feedback. Rate it 1–5 stars and your rating feeds into the average shown to other users — and helps us surface the genuinely great recipes higher in search and recommendations. Ratings are tied to your account so you can update them later if a recipe grew on you.
Campaigns — promotional bundles at fixed prices
From time to time we run Campaigns: time-limited offers where a specific recipe or meal plan ships at a discounted, fixed price. Campaigns appear as a 4th "Campaign" offer alongside Basic, Smart, and Extra when you're viewing the recipe. The bundle of products in a Campaign is fixed — you can't swap ingredients while the campaign offer is selected — but you can freely adjust servings, and switching back to one of the other offers unlocks the bundle again.
Substitutions and voucher refunds
Stores occasionally run out of stock between the moment you order and the moment we shop your basket. When that happens, we substitute the missing item with a comparable alternative (same ingredient, same approximate quantity, similar price band) so your recipe still works. If the substitute is cheaper than what you paid, the difference is refunded to you as a Chefnotes voucher — credit you can spend on your next order. We never substitute silently without telling you, and you always see the substitution in your order details.
